Warning: I am gonna rant, so if you don’t care, don’t read. By the way, I use “you” a lot, but I mean “you” as in the people who have the opposite views as I am expressing. Not specifically, you, the one reading this.
Topic: Love/Hate America
Let’s get one thing straight. I’m not a Patriot for America. Nor am I a “fuck America” sayer. I just believe I am fortunate to live here.
I’ve been reading people’s opinions after watching World Trade Center and people say things like America sucks, the government is corrupt, I wanna get outta here, there’s nothing good here, yah-di-yah. And I hate people like that, so much. Probably the type of people that irritates me the most.
Seriously, THINK. Sure, there’s corruption and annoying media and an idiot president and terrorism and guns and violence and the list goes on. But guess what, people from all over the world still come here, looking for an opportunity. So, American can’t be ALL that bad because if it was as bad as you make it look, I don’t think this nation would be filled with immigrants of all kinds. Besides, do you think other nations don’t have the same problem? Jesus Christ, some of you make it look like America’s the only place with a leader that says a lot of stupid things and makes a lot of stupid mistakes. Look at frikkin North Korea and Kim Jong-Il! Do you think all those nuclear weapons threats and missile testing in the Sea of Japan is all that brilliant? If you think so, fine, go ahead and join his army. Go spread your love for Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. And what about Hussein, eh? He wasn’t very loving and caring for his people. At least in my eye. But if you find totalitarianism to be very nurturing, well, good for you. Go read 1984 and have a party. Oh boo hoo, I’m just picking the really bad leaders. Well, okay, how about Koizumi? Sure he has helped to decrease Japan’s fat debts, but what the fuck, Korea and China is hating Japan more and more. Why? Because Koizumi isn’t doing enough to make things better between them! Hell, he’s making them even more edgy. Yes, Japanese economy is improving, but is it worth disregarding the countries around you? Paying respects to war criminals at the Yakusuni Shrine? Yeah, they did fight for the war, but dude, war criminals. That means these people did inhumane acts towards other people! Of course that’ll make Korea and China cringe. Great, they hated Japan already, make them even more pissed.
Okay, 9/11 was a tragedy, I know. And then they made World Trade Center. And it’s making money. And it’s a form of entertainment. I hear people going, “That’s so disgusting, making money off of a national tragedy. If I want to be entertained, I’ll watch a Disney movie.” Oh shut up. You think World Trade Center is the only movie that is based off of a tragic event? THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF WAR MOVIES OUT THERE. AND WHAT IS WAR ABOUT? THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DYING. I didn’t hear people whining about Pearl Harbor or Anne Frank or Burmese Harp or Saving Private Ryan. (Well, at least whining about how it’s making money off of a horrible event.) I’m really sorry if you were personally affected by 9/11. Really, death of a loved one really hurts. But I’m not going to sympathize or pity. (Don’t think you’d want that anyway.) Cuz my relatives have died due to WWII and other tragic events. But there are still hundreds of WWII movies that have made a ton of money and entertained thousands of people. Is making a movie like the World Trade Center gonna really mean that much when there’s a shitload of other movies just like it, or even more worse than it?
Hate America, say what you want. Then, proceed to get the hell out of here. If you hate it so much, I’m sure you’re making an effort to move to another country. Be it Canada, Mexico, Thailand, whatever. If you don’t want to be in America, I’m guessing America doesn’t really need you. I know everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, I’m familiar with the Constitution. But if you truly do hate it here, then go. If there are things stopping you from going and you can’t seem to leave, then it looks like you’re not making enough of an effort if you hate America enough to want to get out.
Do you know why I’m saying this? Because I’m pretty happy with what I have. Sure, things could be better. Things have been better. But if I were somewhere else, like Sudan or Pakistan or China or Puerto Rico or something, I’m pretty sure I’d be miserable because we have a lot of freedoms in America, there are lots of jobs in America, there’s a lot of food in America, there is a better sense of equality in America, and there are second chances in America. I would hate to live in poverty, scrounging for food, surrounded by deadly diseases, constantly living in fear of the government, making a home in a filthy environment. If you’re still not satisfied with what this nation has to offer, then you’re welcome to leave the country. I hope you’ll be happier once you move. Because everyone needs to learn to appreciate what they have, especially when it comes to where they live.
But hey, that’s just what I think.
Wow, I haven’t gotten this heated in a while. And I haven’t written an opinionated entry in a long time too.
